I couldn't have been more relieved to discover that this episode did not end in a cliffhanger like the end of S2. If there is a right kind of cliffhanger to end a show on, this episode was it. In fact, I was very happy with it, if indeed this is how the series ends. No one died, and we are only left wondering about Adam, which is nothing new. I couldn't have been more blown away. No more Sanctuary...no more Helix... Everything they have ever known is gone. Whoa. I only wish that we could see what would happen now that they are essentially homeless and without any resources whatsoever. Pity that we will more than likely never be able to explore that. And on the note of Brennan and Shalimar: I am both happy and not. That first kiss was oh-so-much sweeter than I ever dared imagine, but their encounter in this ep...it left a bit to be desired I think. Mainly because it would be easy to pass it off as the consummation of physical attraction only. Now, all of us shippers know better than that, but still... I just thought the scene was rushed. Bren and Shal deserved better than that. I regret not hearing "I love you" from either one of them, or at least seeing signs that those words were in there somewhere. I can't complain too much though...hey the finally got together didn't they? Falling completely in love would have come close on the heels of this little fling. All in all I mourn only for the possibilities left open that we won't get to explore, and that only. I'm happy with the ending.

Yup. MX deserved a real ending, but failing that, I think this end was a pretty good one, under the circumstances or no. At least we didn't get left hanging in the bad way - more like we got left with a bunch of possibilities that will never be explored. Frustrating yes, but a tragedy, no. Hey, that's what fanfic is for. I'm working on some right now... ;D
Anyone else not totally happy with the way they handled the Bren/Shal thing?

That would have been the infamous "Almost-kiss episode", "A Breed Apart", the S1 Finale. I could have KILLED Emma...lol I was whining to my buddies about Bren and Shal in the Assault, but as they so intelligently pointed out, this episode was never intended to be the end of the series. If you look at the Bren/Shal scene as the beginning that it was intended to be, then it makes a lot more sense. They had sex, but they still aren't "together", so in future episodes that would have been a new dynamic and a new tension between them, but it still would have left the shippers something to look forward too, which would be the "I love you scenario". The flirting thing was starting to get old. Way I see it, what happened in "The Assault" was way overdue. Series ending or not I think the shippers would have been pissed if nothing happened by the end of this season, cause it was at the point of "how can they not kiss by now???" lol And it definately had to happen before the show was over. And go check out Proxy Blue...there is still hope...

Maybe I shouldn't even start, as you'd be in for quite a rant...

lol now that I've had a chance to let that episode sink in, I'm not so happy with it either, but I don't think that it would be fair to say that I hate it completely like a lot of people seem to.

I'm glad too that this episode had no cliffhanger like s2's finale and that Brennan and Shalimar's finally got to the maximum point: their first real and long kiss we never had seen before in the series just some attempts of kissing ;D. But I'm sad because all ended with the team loosing everything they created for years : the Sanctuary, the Helix even their leader without whom they we'll have never had the life they begin to have when Adam found them and a really big family, because that's the truth they all are a big family.. Even if they are now homeless and we don't know what will happen to them from now on what is the most important is that Shalimar, Jesse, Brennan and Lexa are still together and they didn't lost any other member like in the beginning of s3. It would be great for us to see a ses4and a ses5 and.. someday. it would be nice to see what happened to them after the explosion, to see how happens to the relationships between B/S and J/L, if will they go on or not, if they will find Adam, but it seems that the producers let us to imagine what will happen next. Anyway I'm still hoping that someday will be another three seasons. Even if they would be with other actors. But they will never be the same without VIcKY, Forbes, Victor, Karen. that's for sure. well hope never dies so... ;D

Well I've sort of continued the show in my fanfiction, so you can check it out on slidersfanficcorner.com I only regret that the Bren/Shal thing got so rushed in the finale. Its obvious to me that they were not supposed to go all the way in that episode, so it felt sort of rushed and disjointed and outta nowhere. I regret that part. But I know the reason it was that way is that they knew the show wasn't coming back and didn't want to leave it without Bren and Shal getting together. Just a shame it had to be all crammed in at the last minute.

Yes.You're right. The things went to fast in the last episode. Maybe if the series haven't ended the way it did we would have seen in that episode only a short kiss as we 've seen before. But I agree with you here, you know, they crammed all in the last minute. Was the way the producers thought, so...

you can tell if you watch it...they were supposed to kiss, but the rest was rushed in because at that point the producers knew that show wasn't coming back. At least they didn't leave us with nothing...that woulda been mean lol
