Well its going to take a lot. Last I looked there were 500 signatures and counting. The petition is averaging about 100 singnatures a day, so by the time this season is done airing and a cancellation announcement possibly is made, we could conceivably have several thousand signatures. That would be significant enough to get the attention of whomever the petition is sent to, sci fi channel or otherwise.

Its tricky you see, because the show WAS renewed...but that was BEFORE they lost their production partner in Canada, Fireworks Entertainment, who is responsible for all the actually filming and funding and all that stuff.
A new production partner that would take over for Fireworks has to believe that the show will be profitable if they put their money into it. Right now none of the potential partners do, mainly because they don't know how badly people really want it. That's why the petition is so important.
But I have to say, sending this petition to just the scifi channel isn't going to cut it - the sci fi channel does not have the money to produce Mutant X without a production partner, so we are kind of back to square one on that point. This petition needs to go to Tribune as well so that they can show it to a potential production partner and say "look how badly the fans want it. If you make it they will watch."

That's a good question. Shalgal is the one who started it, so we should probably ask her.

I haven't heard anything...but just cause the sets are being taken down doesn't mean that its over yet. The set space was paid for/taken care of by Fireworks Entertainment, so with Fireworks going out of the TV business, it is likely that the sets would have to be moved to a new studio anyway. Also Bre, if you could, link to any posts/articles that you find so that we can go check them out too

One of the cameramen on the show e-mailed me about setting up the petition. In one of his messages to me, he mentioned that. He also told me that in "Cirque" there's a shot when Shal peeks out of a tent to look at the circus. That was the very last shot they did, (since Cirque was the last episode filmed for the series) and on take 2 when she looked out, the entire cast and crew was there to say goodbye!

New Article with quotes in it from one of the recipant of the petition on it. MX will run a Best of... S4 with a lot of hope for an S5. This was announced the day they recieved the petition. To read the article (it was sent to me by one of my cast/crew connections and found again by us) go to www.puremx.netAccording to my source, there is a lot of hope that the production will be renewed, but please remember to still spread the petition. With 1000+ sigs, Tribune will know what to do with it.
