There was a blindingly obvious moment of subtext in "Ex Marks the Spot" that I noticed the other day.
Brennan: "I just don't think Zack is the right guy for Shalimar."
Adam: "Spoken as a friend, of course."
Brennan: "Yeah, what else?"
What else, indeed? Even Adam had picked up on the vibe between Bren and Shal, though the two of them were still pretty much oblivious.
The writers definitely threw that one in on purpose, dropping an awfully big hint to the audience. It is possibly the first time in the series where the idea of a Bren/Shal "thing" was purposely hinted to the viewers.

I also think that a few eps later in "Nothing to Fear" the scene where Bren covered sleeping Shal with the blanket and kissed her [SO SWEET!] was a HUGE hint. I think that's when Brennan really started to fall for Shal.

I wouldn't be surprised if he fell for her the first time he saw her ;D

True...let me rephrase that...
It was love at first sight, but Brennan started to REALIZE those feelings were there in "Nothing to Fear".

True...let me rephrase that... It was love at first sight, but Brennan started to REALIZE those feelings were there in "Nothing to Fear". And though you could make an argument for "A Breed Apart" I don't think that Shal really started to wake up until recently in "Hand of God"

That's true, but I'm talking about full realization like "OMG" type, where she really knew and couldn't argue with it, you know?

At the end of "Hand of God" its all in Shal's eyes - she wasn't just brooding over what happened to Kristoff. There was fear of her own feelings, for Brennan, in there too.

I saw mostly Brennan, barely any Kristoff, miniscule amount lol

At first it was about Kristoff, but the instant Brennan started talking to her and said "Shal, that was more than just risk..." [basically calling her out lol] the look in her eyes was all about Brennan. You'd have to be blind not to see it.
