A very telling tidbit from Victoria's Cult Times interview [May '04]:
"I think Shalimar's growth as a character is related to those around her as she accepts them-or sometimes doesn't accept them-into her world"
Very observant of you Vicky. I have thought that on many occasions. I also think that is the crux of Shalimar's various hang-ups. Its all based on what she is willing to accept, and because she has trust issues and so on, she has a hard time accepting things, because she isn't so trusting after being hurt so often in her life. Shalimar can only really grow through learning to trust and accept.

Oh but it was a good ramble! [Good to hear from ya psionicferal!] Aren't the worst types of psychological hang-ups a paradox like Shalimar's? I feel really bad for the character sometimes because of all that. Thing with Shal trusting Adam is that he essentially saved her life by taking her off the streets and raised her, too. You can't just throw all that away I guess. She has already "let him in", and isn't so willing to cut him off. Kinda works that way with people you love, even when they hurt you.

I love how this has become the "psych-analysis of Shalimar" thread ;D And a picking apart of feral nature in general. ;D Good stuff!
