Glen knew as well as she did that they were already short one soldier today. She couldn't leave without attratcting undue scrutiny. And she did take pride in doing her job. She wasn't going anywhere, even if she was falling asleep on her feet.

Some of the others noticed the fight and walked off leaving her alone to cover the shift since she was being such a b**ch.

She caught movement out of the corner of her eye. And just her luck, it was Sergeant Carter. Snapping to attention at his approach, she didn't look at him.
"Corporal, where are your team members?" he asked.
Probably in the mess calling me names behind my back, she thought, but didn't dare say it.
"There should be at least one other soldier here with you," he said when she didn't answer him right away.
She didn't know what to tell him, so she just told him the truth. "They all went on break, sir," she said stifly.

He looked at her for the longest time " is that so" he sighed " once they return you may leave" he headed off wishing he could say more to her but had no idea what to say.

Well...that's was...awkward, she thought, watching him walk away and wishing that she could be more comfortable with him. Am I supposed to be comfortable with my CO? And why the hell hadn't he chewed her out just now? He should have, since it was a clear protocol violation...
