Granted it will be a best of MX... However, they are still trying to pick up production for S5. There is renewed hope the day that the petition was recieved by Tribune and a source told me that they are very optimistic to start filming again, however, they missed the October S4 beginning deadline. To read an article about it go here: www.puremx.netAdmin note: I changed the title of this thread so as not to mislead anyone

Here's the article that is posted on Pure: Hot Seat By Paige Albiniak -- Broadcasting & Cable, 5/17/2004 When Fireworks Entertainment found itself in financial straits, it put Tribune Entertainment in the hot seat. Fireworks, a division of CanWest Global, produces action hours Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda and Mutant X in concert with Tribune. Tribune handles domestic distribution; Fireworks services international. Fireworks' cost-cutting dilemma, brought on largely by the deteriorated state of the international TV market, forced it to consider dropping both shows. Enter Tribune Entertainment President Dick Askin, who persuaded Fireworks to keep producing Andromeda. The show is going into its fifth season, performs internationally, and starts a deal with the Sci Fi Channel this fall in which the original episode will premiere on cable, then air a week later in broadcast syndication. "Because of Roddenberry and star Kevin Sorbo, Andromedaalways has been a bigger project on a global basis," Askin says. Mutant X isn't as lucky. Fireworks ceased production, though the show is renewed for its fourth season and scores domestically. But internationally, it wasn't profitable. "When we got into both of these projects," Askin says, "the foreign market was much stronger than it is now." Mutant X will air in best-of repeats on stations next fall, and Askin hopes another foreign production company will step into the breach, allowing Tribune to restart production for season five. "It would be challenging to reassemble the cast and crew," he says, "but we'd be able to relaunch if we could find the right partner." For now, Tribune has been unable to find the partner it needs to meet an October premiere date. A third action hour, Tribune's Beastmaster, is exiting broadcast syndication after three seasons, two in original production. It premieres on Sci Fi in September. "The international market is improving, but it still has a long way to go," Askin says. "The consensus is that it will never get back to where it was five years ago." Okay y'all, I actually went to the site for Broadcasting & Cable Magazine, and I found the link to this article. It is indeed legit. Check it out for yourselves: www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA417931?display=Search+Results&text=hot+seatregardless of another "source", this article is very very real.

Okay guys no flames on this board.
Most of this stuff is hard to find, especially when it doesn't show up in a search. So I apologize for not posting it sooner.
I have had many years of experience with tv and I can tell you this: Tribune would not bother expending the resources to look for a new production partner if they weren't at least 80% sure that they are going to find one. It just isn't done. Business is business and tv companies do not waste time on a lost cause. My biggest worry at this point is the reassembly of the cast and crew next fall.

It isn't really that long between now and when production would start again, just about a year. If the cast has been advised of what is going on, and I think that they have been judging by their silence, they could get by on small projects until that time. I can't speak for the others, but I think that Vicky would wait, IF she has been told what is happening.

I'm just worried because I heard somewhere, I think it was Karen Cliche's message boards, that several of the cast members were thinking about not coming back. First thing is, if we can still go by what Vicky told Sci-Fi Wire a little while ago [it was about a week before Karen posted about MX being cancelled], she was willing to come back if indeed the show WAS coming back. Whether having to wait a year is going to make a difference or not, I don't know. There was also that rumor about Victor leaving... Second and most important, and this goes for everyone and not just you Bre, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you see any news, like stuff about cast members not coming back or WHATEVER, PLEASE POST A LINK TO IT IN HERE so we can see it too. Thanks ;D

Victoria's latest interview at actionadventure.about.com was very encouraging. She said she loves working on MX, and what's more she isn't looking to "move on to the next big thing". Seems to me from the way she talked about it that she would be willing to go back, although the specific question was not brough up in the interview. So I am less worried now. If you want to read the interview, there is a thread for it in Victoria's Place in the Press Room

Is there any news as to when Mutant X will resume production. And if they will return for a Fourth Season, and if a new production company has been found.

The very last thing I heard was that Tribune is still looking for a production partner, and that if they can find one in a reasonable amount of time Mutant X will be back, that is if they can get back all or most of the primary cast [ie Vicky Pratt].
'Season 4' is going to be best-of reruns, since they have already missed the date to start production for new episodes this fall. The soonest that MX will be back would be fall '05

Hey all....I was on a and I saw the news that it has been renewed for seasons 4 and 5. I can't find the post on there right now but it pointed to an article somewehere on the web. I looke dat the comic continuum but that wasn't it. So hopefully this was true and we will soon see MX again. When/if I find the forum and post somewhere I will post here again.
