You saw the news here on the Sisterhood??? If you did, that was an old article, about the initial renewal of both MX and Andromeda [MX for a 4th and Andromeda for a 5th] before the sale and shutdown of Fireworks. As far as I know Tribune is still looking for a production partner, and this fall, what would have been season 4 will instead be best-of MX reruns.

But if it is something new, please try to find the link and post it!

I also found this, an update made in April:
UPDATE (4/29/04): Tribune Entertainment revealed in its annual report that, although it ordered another season of both series (Mutant X and Andromeda), its "financial partner" has initiated court action to prove "it is not obligated to participate in the further financing or production of either series."

It seems like Tribune is always involved with a lawsuit over something with this show.

Lexa Doig (Rommy/Andromeda on Andromeda) said at the Tulsa Scifi Convention that there is no Mutant X in production and that part of the reason that Andromeda continued and Mutant X didn't is that Scifi contributed money. Andromeda now has a cheeper budget.

"Lexa also confirmed what someone else said, that Sci-Fi is contributing production money which is one reason they got renewed and Mutant X didn't. The budget is less though. "

lol Shalgal. I find it strange that Fireworks/CanWest initiated the lawsuit though, rather than Tribune sueing for loss and damages, almost like they knew that dropping MX was wrong and somewhat illegal when an order for another season had been confirmed... Something to be considered.

I also read (I believe it was in the article that had the statement from Tribune's president; the one you posted Shalgal) that the reason Tribune was able to convince Fireworks to film and produce a final season of Andromeda was because of its success in the international market, which sadly MX never really had. Add in the money from Sci-Fi and you can see why Andromeda got one more year.

Just think though: if the courts say that Fireworks is indeed going to have to make good on Tribune's order for a 4th season of MX, we will get at least one more year. I take this as good news.

While it is extremely doubtful the show will return with new episodes, sources have told The Continuum there is a "slim possibility" of a two-hour television movie that would wrap up storylines from the third season's cliffhanger.

In my opinion it is better than nothing at all. I would be happy with a little tv movie that would wrap things up nice and tidy. Proof that petitioning never hurts.

Some sad news.

The cast has yet to be approached about the TV movie.

If they aren't approached soon they can't be sure that their schedules are free to film the movie.

If they are approached my source will inform me of that.

Guess that's why they said it was a 'slim possibility'. My guess is that Tribune is just starting to hatch this TV movie plan and hasn't gotten around to telling the cast. I would hope they do it soon.

I believe we can get MX back again...and i have some news to back it up.

I have been talking to the Mystery channel (on which mutant x airs) and it is the highest rated show on there.Without MX their viewwrs will plumet and they say they will have consider backing Mutant X financially (since they arent a production company )if they can get someone to produce it.

There is hope guys. If enough of us band we can do this. I'm hell bent on getting it back on somehow.And I think we can do this, we have to play he right angles.

I actually know someone who claims he wants to buy mutant x (believe me he has the funds to do it) and will approach them soon unless they start it up again.

Do you enjoy ruining any hope I have? At least let us try Tasha! A try! There is nothing wrong in trying , is there? Why must we be so pesimitic.I know about marvel and how they them sued and the whole bit. I KNOW! but others shows have beaten worse odds.

whats wrong in trying? Its like you want me to quit or something, and its really discouraging.I know you have your reasons and you're not trying to be hurtful, just trying to show me reality.I appreciate that.But there is no harm in trying.
